Pool: no Madre Selva, a 91-hectare (224-acre) sanctuary retreat, is an Ecolodge located oceanfront in Playa Carate, Peninsula de Osa. It is a main part of the Saimiri Wildlife Refuge, created in 2007 by six neighbors who wanted to ensure the conservation of the unspoiled tropical forest. They developed a place specializing in providing a genuine yet safe experience with nature for people seeking transformation and new paradigm living. The lodge also offers wildlife tours and various other experiences.
Besides this area being famous for being one of the most biodiverse spots in the world, it has been lovingly planted with over 120 different species of tropical fruit trees, seven kinds of bamboo, 25 species of palms, 14 types of banana, plenty of food crops, aromatic and medicinal herbs. Only non-invasive varieties have been selected. Over a thousand trees have been planted in the past two decades as part of the landscaping program. This, added to the ancient primary forest and secondary regrowth, contributes to one of the most spectacular assortments of flora and fauna on earth. The list of wildlife is endless and there are several cleared areas, including a front ridge with plateaus suitable for development, which are connected by interior roads.
This magical place comprises eight airy bungalows and seven tents on platforms that can host a maximum of 32 visitors. There are also several tents and buildings where 8-12 staff members live. In addition to some auxiliary buildings for workshops, laundry, storage, chicken etc., they provide an informal reception, an 81m2 Yoga deck overlooking the canopy and ocean, and of course the spectacular main building Casa Grande that houses a restaurant, bar, dance hall, all arranged nicely around the tropical terrace. The built infrastructure is 1060 m2.
There is a bowl-shaped interior valley which is perfectly suited for construction. Otherwise, the landscape consists mostly of primary forest, almost identical to the interiors of Corcovado National Park.
This paradise on earth has been planned so well from the beginning with no details omitted. The property forms its own watershed with several springs providing plenty of fresh drinking water. The main spring is elevated 70m above sea level so most of the building sites can be gravity-fed. A 6000 liter two-chamber concrete tank was built right at the infiltration gallery in 2003 to provide constant clean water. This never affects the flow of the creek that runs poetically through the property.
The abundance and purity of this water combined with the topographical features make it just perfect for a jungle spa resort. Water concession is approved.
Access is provided by land all year round with 4WD, 47 km from Puerto Jimenez which is the hub town with all amenities and a regional airport. This gem is at the end of the road that accesses the famous Corcovado National Park from the south. One can also fly in and land on the maintained airstrip right next to it with private or charter airplanes. The construction of a 400m hangar in front of the airstrip is permitted.
There is a plan for upgrading the existing Lodge - a “phase II” with every detail planned. Details will be given upon request but what’s important is that all land is measured, catastrated, registered and free of any mortgages.
It is inside the Forestal Reserve so neither here nor in the neighborhood can any logging destroy existing nature.

Madre Selva, un sanctuaire de 91 hectares (224 acres), est un écolodge situé en bord de mer à Playa Carate, dans la péninsule d’Osa. Il s’agit d’une partie principale du Saimiri Wildlife Refuge, créé en 2007 par six voisins qui voulaient assurer la conservation de la forêt tropicale intacte. Ils ont développé un lieu spécialisé dans la fourniture d’une expérience authentique et sûre avec la nature pour les personnes en quête de transformation et de nouveau paradigme de vie. Le lodge propose également des visites de la faune et diverses autres expériences.
En plus d’être célèbre pour être l’un des endroits les plus riches en biodiversité au monde, elle a été plantée avec amour avec plus de 120 espèces différentes d’arbres fruitiers tropicaux, sept sortes de bambous, 25 espèces de palmiers, 14 types de bananes, de nombreuses cultures vivrières, des herbes aromatiques et médicinales. Seules des variétés non invasives ont été sélectionnées. Plus d’un millier d’arbres ont été plantés au cours des deux dernières décennies dans le cadre du programme d’aménagement paysager. Ceci, ajouté à l’ancienne forêt primaire et à la repousse secondaire, contribue à l’un des assortiments de flore et de faune les plus spectaculaires de la planète. La liste de la faune est interminable et il y a plusieurs zones défrichées, y compris une crête frontale avec des plateaux propices au développement, qui sont reliés par des routes intérieures.
Ce lieu magique comprend huit bungalows spacieux et sept tentes sur des plates-formes pouvant accueillir un maximum de 32 visiteurs. Il y a aussi plusieurs tentes et bâtiments où vivent 8 à 12 membres du personnel. En plus de quelques bâtiments auxiliaires pour les ateliers, la buanderie, le stockage, le poulet, etc., ils offrent une réception informelle, une terrasse de yoga de 81m2 donnant sur la canopée et l’océan, et bien sûr le spectaculaire bâtiment principal Casa Grande qui abrite un restaurant, un bar, une salle de danse, le tout joliment disposé autour de la terrasse tropicale. L’infrastructure construite est de 1060 m2.
Il y a une vallée intérieure en forme de cuvette qui convient parfaitement à la construction. Sinon, le paysage se compose principalement de forêts primaires, presque identiques à l’intérieur du parc national du Corcovado.
Ce paradis sur terre a été si bien planifié depuis le début sans omettre de détails. La propriété forme son propre bassin versant avec plusieurs sources fournissant beaucoup d’eau potable fraîche. La source principale est surélevée de 70 m au-dessus du niveau de la mer, de sorte que la plupart des chantiers de construction peuvent être alimentés par gravité. Un réservoir en béton de 6000 litres à deux chambres a été construit juste à côté de la galerie d’infiltration en 2003 pour fournir de l’eau propre en permanence. Cela n’affecte jamais le débit du ruisseau qui traverse poétiquement la propriété.
L’abondance et la pureté de cette eau, combinées aux caractéristiques topographiques, la rendent tout simplement parfaite pour une station thermale dans la jungle. La concession d’eau est approuvée.
L’accès se fait par voie terrestre toute l’année en 4x4, à 47 km de Puerto Jimenez qui est la ville centrale avec toutes les commodités et un aéroport régional. Ce joyau se trouve au bout de la route qui permet d’accéder au célèbre parc national du Corcovado par le sud. On peut également voler et atterrir sur la piste d’atterrissage entretenue juste à côté avec des avions privés ou charters. La construction d’un hangar de 400 m devant la piste d’atterrissage est autorisée.
Il y a un plan pour la mise à niveau du pavillon existant - une « phase II » avec tous les détails prévus. Les détails seront donnés sur demande, mais ce qui est important, c’est que toutes les terres soient mesurées, cataloguées, enregistrées et libres de toute hypothèque.
C’est à l’intérieur de la réserve forestière, donc ni ici ni dans le voisinage, aucune exploitation forestière ne peut détruire la nature existante.
Le propriétaire a le droit de développer et de construire des structures qui sont énumérées dans le plan de gestion officiellement approuvé pour le refuge qui comprend un deuxième lodge entièrement équipé au sommet d’une colline sur la crête avant, une ferme biologique, un centre éducatif, un petit centre commercial, un hangar et diverses résidences. Le bien se trouve dans la réserve forestière de Golfo Dulce et a été inscrit au programme de refuge faunique pour une meilleure protection de ses ressources naturelles. Cette zone se trouve à l’extrémité sud-ouest du corridor biologique qui s’étend sur tout le Costa Rica jusqu’à sa partie caribéenne. Compte tenu de la proximité du parc national, il ne faut pas trop d’imagination pour envisager une opération tout à fait indépendante en pole position pour des vacances de luxe. Sie entwickelten einen Ort, der sich darauf spezialisiert hat, Menschen, die Transformation und ein neues Lebensparadigma suchen, eine echte und dennoch sichere Erfahrung mit der Natur zu bieten. Die Lodge bietet auch Wildlife-Touren und verschiedene andere Erlebnisse an.

Es wurden nur nicht-invasive Sorten ausgewählt. Über tausend Bäume wurden in den vergangenen zwei Jahrzehnten im Rahmen des Landschaftsbauprogramms gepflanzt. Zusammen mit dem alten Primärwald und dem sekundären Nachwachsen trägt dies zu einer der spektakulärsten Ansammlungen von Flora und Fauna der Erde bei. Die Liste der Wildtiere ist endlos und es gibt mehrere gerodete Gebiete, darunter einen vorderen Bergrücken mit Plateaus, die für die Bebauung geeignet sind und durch Straßen im Landesinneren miteinander verbunden sind.
Dieser magische Ort besteht aus acht luftigen Bungalows und sieben Zelten auf Plattformen, die maximal 32 Besucher beherbergen können. Es gibt auch mehrere Zelte und Gebäude, in denen 8-12 Mitarbeiter leben. Neben einigen Nebengebäuden für Werkstätten, Wäscherei, Lager, Hühnchen usw. bieten sie einen informellen Empfang, ein 81 m2 großes Yoga-Deck mit Blick auf das Blätterdach und das Meer und natürlich das spektakuläre Hauptgebäude Casa Grande, in dem sich ein Restaurant, eine Bar und ein Tanzsaal befinden, die alle schön um die tropische Terrasse herum angeordnet sind. Die bebaute Infrastruktur beträgt 1060 m2.
Es gibt ein schüsselförmiges Tal im Inneren, das sich perfekt für den Bau eignet. Ansonsten besteht die Landschaft hauptsächlich aus Primärwald, fast identisch mit dem Landesinneren des Corcovado-Nationalparks.
Dieses Paradies auf Erden wurde von Anfang an so gut geplant, ohne dass Details ausgelassen wurden. Das Anwesen bildet ein eigenes Wassereinzugsgebiet mit mehreren Quellen, die viel frisches Trinkwasser liefern. Die Hauptquelle liegt 70 m über dem Meeresspiegel, so dass die meisten Baustellen mit Schwerkraft gespeist werden können. Im Jahr 2003 wurde ein 6000 Liter fassender Zweikammer-Betontank direkt am Versickerungsstollen gebaut, um konstant sauberes Wasser zu liefern. Dies beeinträchtigt nie die Strömung des Baches, der poetisch durch das Grundstück fließt.
Die Fülle und Reinheit dieses Wassers in Kombination mit den topographischen Merkmalen machen es einfach perfekt für ein Dschungel-Spa-Resort. Die Wasserkonzession wird genehmigt.
Der Zugang erfolgt das ganze Jahr über auf dem Landweg mit 4WD, 47 km von Puerto Jimenez entfernt, der Drehkreuzstadt mit allen Annehmlichkeiten und einem Regionalflughafen. Dieses Juwel befindet sich am Ende der Straße, die von Süden her zum berühmten Corcovado-Nationalpark führt. Man kann auch mit Privat- oder Charterflugzeugen auf der gepflegten Landebahn direkt daneben einfliegen und landen. Der Bau eines 400 m langen Hangars vor der Landebahn ist zulässig.
Es gibt einen Plan für die Modernisierung der bestehenden Lodge - eine "Phase II", in der jedes Detail geplant ist. Details werden auf Anfrage mitgeteilt, aber wichtig ist, dass alle Grundstücke vermessen, katastratiert, registriert und frei von Hypotheken sind.
Es befindet sich innerhalb des Waldreservats, so dass weder hier noch in der Nachbarschaft eine Abholzung die bestehende Natur zerstören kann.
Der Eigentümer ist berechtigt, Strukturen zu entwickeln und zu bauen, die im offiziell genehmigten Managementplan für das Refugium aufgeführt sind, der eine zweite, voll ausgestattete Hütte auf einem Hügel auf dem vorderen Kamm, einen Bio-Bauernhof, ein Bildungszentrum, ein kleines Handelszentrum, einen Hangar und verschiedene Wohnhäuser umfasst." Das Anwesen befindet sich im Waldreservat Golfo Dulce und wurde in das Wildlife Refuge-Programm aufgenommen, um seine natürlichen Ressourcen weiter zu schützen. Dieses Gebiet liegt am südwestlichen Ende des biologischen Korridors, der sich über ganz Costa Rica bis zur karibischen Seite erstreckt. In Anbetracht der Nähe zum Nationalpark braucht es nicht allzu viel Fantasie, um sich einen ziemlich unabhängigen Betrieb in einer Pole-Position für Luxusurlaub vorzustellen. Der ursprüngliche Grundriss wurde für ein Zentrum für nachhaltiges Leben konzipiert, das auf Tourismus, Permakultur und Bewusstsein basiert.
