The village has several gardens where you can enjoy beautiful views of the mountains. The Ribeira de Odelouca curves around the village and ends at the Odelouca dam.
As you walk through the village, one of the first things you will notice is the noria and the donkey. These types of wells are still quite common on land, although currently there are no donkeys that work with this mechanism. Noria was introduced here by the Moors, who were experts in irrigating crops.
The Mother Church stands proudly at the top of São Marcos da Serra and dates back to the early seventeenth century.

A aldeia de São Marcos da Serra, com as suas casas caiadas de branco e ruas estreitas e íngremes, é uma típica aldeia de montanha do Algarve.
