In the main square of one of the most beautiful villages in Italy – Allerona – stands the massive Palazzo Visconteo. The palace rises on the site of the original Lerona Castle and was the residence of the Visconti Monaldeschi della Cervara who had it built at the end of the 14th century. The Viscount resided here when Allerona was the castle of the Monaldeschi. Over time, the Palace was expanded and then enhanced in the Renaissance period.
