Im Jahr 1859 entdeckte der Astronom Ernst Wilhelm Tempel bei Beobachtungen mit seinem Teleskop von der Spitze der Scala aus den Kometen C/1859 und den Merope-Nebel. Eine andere Legende besagt, dass Pietro Contarini die Scala gebaut hat, um zu Pferd in sein Schlafzimmer im obersten Stockwerk des Gebäudes zu gelangen. Heute sind wir privilegierte Beobachter dieses
versteckten Juwel im Stadtteil San Marco, nur wenige Meter von der Scala entfernt. Secondo la leggenda invece, Pietro Contarini fece costruire la Scala per poter salire nella sua camera da letto, posta all’ultimo piano dell’edificio, a cavallo. Oggi diventiamo privilegiati osservatori di questo
gioiello nascosto nel sestiere di San Marco, a pochi metri dalla Scala.
